Rainy Day Gardening

Rainy Day Gardening

March 30, 2015

This time of year can be frustrating for avid gardeners as they attempt to dodge the downpours and tend to their garden. However, the wet weather is something that must be embraced by any British green fingers as the cold, wet months seem to outnumber the warm, dry months.

Why not make the most of a rainy day by spending it in the garden and getting to grips with the benefits of water logged flower beds and rain soaked lawns.

Tidying up

Giving your garden a tidy up is made much easier when the weather is unpleasant. During the dry summer months, weeds can be difficult to remove, and you may find yourself unnecessarily wrestling with pests that will slide right out of the soil after a heavy rain. Spending a rainy day weeding can make life a lot easier later on as you make light work of an otherwise arduous task.

Make the most of it

Appreciate the plants that thrive in the miserable weather. Bulbs, shrubs and perennials all love the moist soil, and with some tender loving care, will thrive in a rain soaked garden. You may have to put some extra work in to make sure that your plants don’t get too waterlogged, but with the right techniques, you can maintain a beautiful garden during the wet months.

Put your feet up

One of the benefits of a rainy day is that some of the hard work is done for you so there is no need for dragging heavy watering cans around your flower beds. So put your feet up and relax with our all weather garden furniture, (perhaps under the cover of a gazebo or a particularly large umbrella) and watch as Mother Nature tends to your garden for you.

Here at Verdon Grey, we believe that a garden is not just for summer. Why not make the most of the wet weather, and enjoy a spot of rainy day gardening. For more information on our beautiful range of garden furniture, or for any other queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01284 812000.
