It’s time to get outside

It’s time to get outside

March 30, 2015

Spring has finally arrived and we are all very thankful that the persistent downpours of early this year are finally fading into distant memory. Often spring in Britain is rather a disappointment and it is barely warmer or dryer than winter but this year it promises to be largely beautiful. With several warm weeks in hand and the promise of many more on the way it looks likely that the remainder of the season will be great. Spring has to come to an end at some point though and that point is fast approaching us; very shortly May will usher in the notoriously fickle British summer.

Worry not though as summer 2014 is set to be a bumper year and is indeed predicted to be the longest and hottest ever recorded including the famous summer of 1976, which is a good measure of what type of weather to expect. With all this hot weather on the horizon it is a good time to look at tidying up those outside spaces and getting them ready for those long days of summer.

In this blog we have put together a few points that you will want to make sure you pay some attention to, before summer gets to this green and pleasant land;

Get planting

Plants are the key to brightening up your outdoor spaces, and now is the time that you need to start getting those flowers in the ground and growing. Whether you have a small outside yard or a vast garden there is a planting solution for you that will see it full of stunning flora come June. If you have a yard then pots are your friend and you will want to make sure that you have enough pots and plants to appropriately fill the outdoor space with colour. Potted plants are also great for use as a screen; want to hide the drain in the corner of the yard? Stick a pretty pot over it and voila. If you have a larger garden with bedding areas then the planting world really is your oyster, you could even treat yourself to a partially grown cherry blossom tree and have the wonderful petals brighten up your garden space.

Move the catering outdoors

In summer the barbecue is king! There really is no better way to eat food then straight from the barbecue whilst soaking up the rays. The one problem that you will inevitably come across when looking for a barbecue is deciding on one that is perfect for your requirements, and will last for long enough to be a permanent feature. Every year as soon as the sun comes out people up and down the country run out and spend their hard earned cash on barbecues that are really only good for one year and will find their way to the skip  long before next summer. One great solution is to invest in a stone barbecue that is not susceptible to rusting like so many steel barbecues are.

Get the right furniture

Nobody wants to have to sit uncomfortably perched on a plastic garden chair that barely looks like it can hold its own weight, never mind that of a barbecue laden human. One of the main factors that stops people from investing in garden furniture of higher quality is the misconception that the winter will simply ruin it and they will have to reinvest again next year. Furniture such as our all weather garden furniture will not only be comfortable and sturdy enough this year but its intelligent design and use of high quality materials will ensure that it is perfect for many years to come. Never again will you or your guests have to sit at a wonky table on a hastily brought out dining room chair and every garden party from here on out will be a dream.

So if you are looking forward to summer with bated breath and cannot wait for the days of summer then why not pass the remainder of the spring readying your garden for its arrival?
